Description
The Outfitting Supervisor works within the New Construction Department supporting the Program Manager and Engineering to execute the installation of vessel systems. The Outfitting Supervisor oversees and manages the installation of equipment and supporting systems for new construction vessels. This includes managing daily work performed by craftsmen, assigning and monitoring the completion of work. The Outfitting Supervisor also supports the program by providing technical assistance and expertise during estimating and design phases of construction. Works closely with the Structural Supervisor throughout vessel construction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Outfitting Supervisor is expected to identify and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to support the timely and effective completion of assigned tasks. This includes ensuring that company policies and practices are followed in all phases of project performance and personnel-related functions.
- Responsible for ensuring that employees comply with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that the Trade is pursuing Company goals for Safety, Quality and Productivity.
- Developing and/or reviewing project.
- Allocating personnel and resources to efficiently support production.
- Overseeing and monitoring schedule performance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, investigation of late activities, project supervision, and the development of practical solutions.
- Monitoring productivity across all shifts, including the amount and type of work assigned as well as the quality and quantity of work accomplished.
- Mentor and develop trades.
- Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices and standards or wide application of technical principles.
- Full knowledge of industry practices and develops solutions to a variety of complex problems.
- May refer to established precedents and policies. Work is performed under general direction.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma required.
- 5 years’ experience in vessel construction or major refit.
- Strong technical knowledge in piping and mechanical systems.
- Technical knowledge in structural and welding processes.
- Familiar knowledge with electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, supervise, and direct the work of other employees across multiple trades. Ability to effectively coordinate with and integrate subcontractors.
- Ability to use discretion and judgment in making operations and personnel decisions.
- Proficient computer skills required including experience with Microsoft Office programs
- Capable of giving clear work instructions to employees
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
- Familiarity with blueprints, drawings, schematics and technical manuals
- Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions
- Ability to give directions and follow instructions
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Ability to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basis

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job are medium/heavy in nature.
- Frequent sitting, standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, seeing, hearing and occasionally lowering self into confined spaces, crawling through small openings and working in reclined positions, as needed.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry 50+ lbs., bend, stoop and climb scaffold and work on elevated work surfaces, beams, ladders, and confined spaces.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, talk, or hear.
- The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Works in all areas of the shipyard and on-board ships.
- Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.
- Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.
